I woke from a deep sleep dreaming of the kids looking for Easter eggs and realized that It was Easter Sunday and I still hadn’t done my ‘parental Easter duties’ and so scurried around our Caprivi campsite in my pj’s hiding all the eggs before the kids woke up.
Once they woke it was a wild flurry of exploration looking for all the brightly tin foil colored eggs and eating a ton of chocolate before they’d even touched their bacon and eggs!
Then we were off the famous 32 Buffalo Battalion Base across the river to explore the remnant ruins of the old barracks left over from the war and to look for the herds of elephants that run wild there. It truly is a very untouched piece of Africa… Really beautiful!
In the late afternoon we had arranged a Mokoro trip on the Kavango River. We were two people per boat with our own poler and we glided effortlessly where hidden hippos and crocs lay hidden beneath the dark water. We went through water lily fields, took photos of the setting sun and I think definitely made some memorable ‘fireplace memories’ to last a lifetime.
